More than 30 participants from the 13 HVDC-WISE project partners attended the project’s second general meeting on the 25-26th April, at EPRI Europe in Dublin.
On the morning of the first day, the Work Package (WP) leaders presented the status, key messages, next steps and key issues to address in WP1 ‘Project Management’, WP2 ‘Requirements, opportunities, frameworks, and demonstration needs for R&R of future AC/DC systems’, WP3 ‘Concept architectures for reliable and resilient AC/DC systems’, WP4 ‘Enabling technologies for future AC/DC hybrid systems’, WP5 ‘Simulation tools for R&R-oriented planning and operation of hybrid AC/DC power systems’ and WP8 ‘Pathways towards hybrid AC/DC grids: dissemination and exploitation’.
The afternoon session was dedicated to three workshops that addressed key areas of the project: 1) Dynamic phasors tools and dynamics; 2) EMT and real-time; 3) Resilience aspects within planning and operation.
On the morning of the second day, each WP had its dedicated session to discuss ongoing tasks and emerging issues.
In the afternoon, the project’s executive board nominated the External Expert Advisory Board members, got the partner’s feedback on the project organization and progress and discussed the internal financial reporting.
The project is now in month seven and has made good progress with twelve deliverables already submitted to the European Commission.
Regarding project next steps, the WP6 ‘R&R-oriented network expansion planning methodology: application to use cases’ is kicking off next month and the WP7 ‘Validation of control and protection concepts on EU representative use cases’ will start early next year.
