HVDC-Wise at Enlit Europe 2025

Enlit Europe once again brought together global energy leaders to accelerate the transition toward a decarbonized and digitalized energy system. This year’s event featured more than 15,000 attendees, 700 exhibitors, and 500 expert speakers, making it one of Europe’s most influential energy gatherings. The program focused on critical themes such as grid resilience, sector coupling, and energy islands, highlighting how integrated solutions can strengthen Europe’s energy backbone for the future.

HVDC-WISE at the DC Technologies Panel

On November 20, Paul Mc Namara represented HVDC-WISE during the DC Technologies Panel, a session dedicated to advancing direct current systems for Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and Distribution System Operators (DSOs). The discussion explored how HVDC technology can enable large-scale renewable integration, improve system reliability, and support the development of hybrid AC/DC grids.

Paul shared insights into HVDC-WISE’s progress and next steps, emphasizing the project’s mission to deliver reliable and resilient HVDC grid configurations that will form the foundation of Europe’s future integrated transmission system. These innovations are essential for meeting the EU’s decarbonization targets and ensuring secure, flexible energy flows across borders.

Throughout the event, HVDC-WISE was featured at the EPRI Europe booth (Stand 5.F30-S03), where visitors learned about the project’s work in designing robust AC/DC grid architectures and developing tools to enhance reliability and resilience. These solutions are key enablers for renewable energy integration and cross-border electricity flows.
